Open Source Segment Shield from Sparkfun!

Click here to go to SparkFun!

I was looking through other kick starter projects to run across a new product from Sparkfun.  This guy in Palo Alto, Ca designed a head with moving eys and a moveable jaws.  He used the Sparkfun joystick which I looked up to see the new product Fridays.  I think I'll get an open source segment shield as soon as I can.  Watch the videos, they open minds.

Typical "Mr. Circuit" experiments conducted in class.

Welcome to the page exclusive for the dual enrolled class taught

at Luray High School!

A short history....

Mr. Kevin Carini taught the initial class in the spring of 2012.  Dr. Kevin Giovenatti, Physics Professor at James Madison University is the supervising teacher.
A total of 9 students took the class with one of them from page County High.

Many of these students earned 3 credit college credit hours.

A curriculum was worked out and project work completed.

Mr. Ron Vickers taught the class during the spring of 2013 as Mr. Carini changed jobs to Stuart-Hall private school in Staunton, VA.

All of the students were in the top 10% of their class. Each one has been accepted in  the university of their choice to pursue a career in engineering and similar areas.

The class completed techbots which were power by Arduino boards programmed to read sensors and follow programing in open source software.  A basic understanding in electronics was completed first with the assembly of a soldered kit and experiments in digital electronics.  SparkFun kits were used purchased from Amazon.  The FTC challenge using Lab View software  for programming was done by having two groups compete in moving plastic rings on pegs.  These seniors successfully solved the challenge in only 2 weeks when FIRST robotics teams are given over 2 months.
